About us
St Albans Diocese is The Church of England in in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, including Luton and part of the London Borough of Barnet.
There are some 330 parishes across the area and a significant number are involved in work with children and young people. Our interest is in people aged 11 to 19 years, in the main, but also up to 25 as we are involved in the Church of England Youth Council.
At the office you will find:
Dave Green, the Diocesan Youth Officer. He’s been around a few years but continues to feel passionate about the important place of young people in the life of the church. He gets frustrated by too many boring meetings, but loves meeting young people, which for him means a lot of the population!!
Julie Reeves, the Youth Secretary, who spends much of her time trying to get Dave organised and in control of his diary. She is the one who answers the phone so knows most things about what is going on – unless Dave comes up with an idea and doesn’t tell anyone!!
You will also find a variety of people associated with Reach Out Projects. ROP is an independent trust which grew out of the work of the Diocesan Youth Service. It provides resources like the canal boat fleet and Chellington Residential Youth Centre. The main person based here is:
Ann Green, who is administrator for ROP, so sorts out all the bookings, money, and just everything that is needed in running the show. We see, from time to time, Liz Saunders our Chellington Co-ordinator, Anne Hunt, Volunteer Co-ordinator for Boats & John Bennett, Co-ordinator for Enable Holidays.
It is a busy place where, hopefully, the work is focused on supporting young people and those who work with them.
Please pray for us and the work we are involved in, and if you like what we do, let us know. If you think we could do it better, we’d also like to hear from you.
